Our Top Five Trees with Beautiful Spring Blossom for Small Front Gardens
Spring is a great time of the year, and we would like to introduce you to our top five spring-flowering trees for small front gardens to become inspired! Front gardens and driveways don’t need to be boring and harsh looking because they are covered by massive paved areas! By using the right size of attractive trees you can create a wow factor and an exciting welcoming feature in front of your house!
One of our favourite ones is Prunus yeodonsis, Japanese Yoshino cherry as per the photo. (Its common name was given in honour of the famous cherry covered mountain Yoshino in Japan).
Prunus yeodonsis has been chosen because of its small size (up to 12m tall), upright shape and for its beautiful early spring flowers! It has pink buds which become single blush white flowers in the spring. They have a subtle almond fragrance.
We love this tree as it is small but has a big impact on the eye!
Our second favourite small tree is Prunus serrula (Tibetan cherry). This is a beautiful tree with showy white flowers in spring and eye-catching polished mahogany coloured bark! The flowers are followed by small cherries in summer. In autumn, its green leaves turn yellow before they fall. Its ultimate height is 8-12m. They are single and multi-stem trees.
Our third favourite small tree is Malus ‘Evereste’ (Crab apple). This conical-shaped tree has beautiful large white flowers in April opening from red buds that fade to pink. These are followed by the second show of red-flushed, orange-yellow fruits in autumn while Its dark green foliage turns to a yellow/bronze hue in autumn. This tree is good for the wildlife. Its ultimate height is 4-6m.
Our fourth favourite small tree is Prunus ‘Spire’, Spire cherry (Ornamental). Its dark pink buds open to pretty white and subtle pinks in early spring. Its foliage starts off a rich reddish-purple, later turning yellowish, and then lush green, before vibrant purples and red shades finish its display. This tree is conical, almost upright growth! Its ultimate height is 8-12m.
And our last but most favourite small tree is Amelanchier lamarckii (Snowy Mespilus). This gorgeous tree has very attractive white flowers in early spring, red to purple fruits and striking red coloured leaves in autumn. It is 8-12m in height. They are single and multi-stem trees.
Have a blossomful day!
